Many years ago, I attended a healing series at our church taught by Dr. Don VerHulst. Below is a Word from God that he shared with the group. This is still so good and relevant that I wanted to share with you.

"I want you well says your Creator, but I cannot heal you unless you use the authority I have given you to deal with the root of the problem. My hands are tied by your fear, by your expectation of the same old thing. I AM LIMITED by the time you spend considering the problem. Quit trying to figure it out. I am directing your path. I've already met that need. The evidence that you truly believe it is what you allow to enter into your mind and what is coming out of your mouth. You will have great peace, nothing missing, nothing broken when YOU keep YOUR mind stayed on ME. Then and only then will you speak out of the abundance of what you have allowed in your mind and heart. Put my Word concerning healing in your heart by saying only what I have said, I sent my Word and healed you.
I cannot heal you without your permission. Why don't you give Me permission to heal instead of giving your enemy the power to continue to steal, kill and destroy?"
Look back on this past week. What did you spend most of your time and energy on? Were you worried about a challenge or obstacle that looks too big to handle? Were you focused on something someone said or did that was upsetting? Did you "nurse and rehearse" the issue so much in your mind (or in your discussions with others) that it made you nearly sick?
While we can't avoid the issues of life, we do have a choice in how we respond. Mulling over the problem constantly or talking about it with anyone who will listen is not going to solve the issue. In fact, this often makes it appear bigger than it really is and drains our energy and time. Our choice should be to focus on how big our God is and not how big the problem is. How do we do that?
1. Find verses that address your situation.
2. Confess those verses regularly each day, like you are taking medicine.
3. Avoid talking about the problem. This doesn't mean you pretend it doesn't exist. Instead, you are making a choice to focus on the solution, Jesus, and not the problem.
4. Guard your heart. Are you listening to music, watching shows or reading books that allow fear and doubt into your mind and heart? Play Christian music in the background. Listen to Christian teachings. These will keep a positive atmosphere around you and will encourage your spirit, soul and body.
5. Ask a few close, faith friends to agree with you in prayer regarding the situation. If you do this, make sure you know that they will be praying from a place of faith and not fear. Begging God for help and fear filled prayers do not move God. God is moved by our faith.
I'll leave you with this.
"So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word."
I just came across a poem I found many years ago in Joyce Meyer's book "If Not for the Grace of God." So many good points to soak in. I believe this is God's heart for us.
Only I can move mountains,
only I can push it away,
only I can conquer the problems,
that you face.
Your only job is to believe,
to listen to My voice,
and when you hear what I command,
obedience is your choice.
But I will not make it too difficult,
for the victory is already Mine,
and I will fill you with My Spirit,
and through you My grace will shine.
Not when you are perfect,
like you think you need to be,
but when your heart is willing,
to become more and more like Me.
"Grace is letting Me do what I want to do in this earth through you."
How many times do we try to make it our job to be perfect and conquer the problems with our own strength, wisdom and energy? Unfortunately, God can't go to work in our lives until we let go and rest in Him. Our job is to just believe. While that may seem simple, it can be the greatest battle sometimes. Our "battle" is to fight to keep God's Word first place in our heart and mind. Our battle is to fight off the negative, fearful thoughts from the enemy. Our battle is to speak what God has promised and not to talk about the issues we see. I don't know about you, but this is such a great reminder for me.
