My Testimony of God's Love, Mercy and Grace

Life is an adventure and it is even more exciting when you are on that journey with the one true living God. He placed it on my heart to begin sharing the events in my life that give testimony to God's love, mercy and grace. Acts 10:34 tells us that God plays no favorites which means what He has done for one person He will do for you as well. I hope you can are encouraged and blessed by these testimonies of what God has done in my life.

Favor Follows Me!

I grew up hearing my mom thank God for a good parking spot. I always kind of blew it off and teased her about it. However, I started doing it myself the past few years. You know what? It works!

God cares about every detail...even the ones that seem so insignificant. I can't tell you how many times I have thanked God for preparing my path and I get a great parking spot, no line at the doctor's office, and other demonstrations of God's favor. I repent now for taking it lightly. God wants us to come to Him for everything, big and small. These are also great opportunities to build our faith. You can't believe for a car or a new home if you can't first believe for a little parking spot. Nothing is impossible with God!

I Am Healed!

On a Wednesday night I tried a new pillow and woke up with a headache the next day. I could feel the vertebrae in my neck out of alignment. I thanked God for my healing, spoke to my neck and told it to get in line with God's Word and function perfectly, and demanded the pain to leave in Jesus' Name. My days were so busy that I didn't realize until Friday afternoon on my way to the chiropractor that my head did not hurt and my neck was not pinched. During my checkup the chiropractor confirmed that nothing was out of alignment and everything looked stable. I've battled neck problems that cause severe headaches so this is a definite testimony of God's healing power manifesting in my body.

Mortgage Paid in Full!

God helped us to pay our 30 year mortgage off in just under 6 years! God is definitely the Provider for our household!

God Is My Safety Net

My husband and I have been going to Kenneth Copeland's Believers' Convention for the past few years. This year we didn't go because it was so far away and would cost a lot more than normal. We had the money in our savings account but I always feel like we shouldn't take money out of there. We need to believe God for money above and beyond to cover these type of special events.

I took a day off of work during the convention to listen live on the internet. While I was listening to a speaker I heard God say "I gave you the money already." It hit home. He had already given me the money. It was sitting right there in our bank account ready to be used. I didn't need to believe for it. It was already there. I was scared to use it.

A little while later I was sitting outside enjoying a warm and quiet afternoon and I heard God speak again. This time He said "And I'll replenish it." If we had used the money He would have replenished it.

My husband and I are always trying to be responsible with our money... perhaps too responsible. Based on this world's economy, the responsible thing to do was to maintain a big savings account. You know, having a safety net in case something happened. However, this actually goes against God's Word.

God tells us that He is our Source. Not our jobs and not our savings accounts. By saving up money with the intention of being oh so responsible, my underlying reason was that I was trying to take care of myself. Make sure I had something to fall back on in case of what? In case God didn't take care of us like He promised? That's what it really came down to. Did I truly believe that God would never leave us nor forsake us? Did I believe that God would truly provide? Did I believe that God prepares our steps so that we don't stumble and fall?

We don't have to fear the future or fear this world's ecomony if we live whole heartedly in God's economy. In God's economy we give and it is given unto us. Our goal is not to make a living. It is to fulfill our God given assignment to be a blessing to others. God will provide what we need for that assignment. We don't need to hoard up money.

I want to clarify something here. I am not suggesting you go out and spend carelessly. We are told in the Bible to act wisely. We cannot send checks and just pray that God will put money in the account before the person cashes it. That is illegal and God will not be a part of that. You could however write the checks, pray over them, and set them aside so that once the money is in the account you send them.

It's also important to note that we live by God's commandment which is to owe no man anything but to love him. Thanks to God that means we are debt free as well. If you want to have God's fullest blessing at work in your life, you need to be obedient to His commands. It's not always easy but it's definitely worth it. There is a reason that God told us to owe no man anything. He knew that there is an oppression and fear that comes when you owe money. God is love and when we get into fear it short circuits our connection to Him. Jesus paid a huge price so that we could have that intimate relationship with God. Why would we want to allow ourselves to get into a situation that will break that relationship?

Early Memories - Miraculously Made The Team!

I was a cheerleader in 7th and 8th grade. Our coach had a lot of experience and trained us to compete in large competitions. As junior high came to a close, I was getting ready to try out for the high school squad.

The day before the tryouts (which were on a Saturday), I was moving a volleyball pole in gym class in my socks. The pole had a big round base and when you pulled it down, you could get it to roll on these little wheels. The pole got away from me and swung around. The metal casing around the wheels scraped the top of my big toe. It hurt but I didn't think anything of it....Until I saw that my white sock was bright red with blood. It had ripped my toenail partway off.

At the hospital they gave me a tetnus shot, three shots in my toe and ripped off the rest of my toe nail. They wrapped it in gauze and told me to keep it iced and elevated. They didn't expect that I would be able to cheer the next day. Let alone do the jumps, mounts and gymnastics required.

I hobbled to practice that afternoon and by the end of it I had bled through the gauze so I had to go back to the hospital. They told me I had to seriously stay off of my foot and keep it elevated to stop the bleeding. We called the high school coach and explained the situation. We asked if they could use the video taken at our last competition to show my skills since I couldn't actually try out. They said no. I had to tryout the next day with everyone else. We asked if my mom could come in to help me with the ice and such and they said no. It was a closed tryout. No exceptions. We committed the situation to God and had to trust He would make it work out.

The next morning my arm was heavy and sore from the tetnus shot and my toe hurt. My parents filled up an Igloo cooler, made sure my toe was wrapped well, and dropped me off at the tryouts. I remember sitting in the bleachers with my foot up on the cooler waiting for my turn. Miraculously, I was not only able to cheer, I was able to do the jumps and gymnastics without assistance. I was even able to hold another cheerleader up on my shoulders. Your big toe is a big part of your balance so being able to do these stunts was a HUGE miracle in itself. And on top of that, my toe never bled!

We went home that afternoon excited at how God had worked such a miracle that day already. Later, I received a call saying I made the squad which was icing on the cake. God makes all things work out for good for those who love Him. Even though He didn't bring on this bad thing, He certainly turned it around for me and made it work out for good!

A Child's Simple Request

My parents used to entertain at football games when I was a child so I would have to stay with a sitter. As I grew older, they would have a cousin of mine stay with me just so I wasn't alone. It was on one of those Saturdays that I held God to His Word and found He is faithful to see it through.

I remember asking my parents when they called if I could go do something that Saturday and they said no. (I can't remember what it was.) I was so angry and said to God, "You said You can change the mind of kings, and my parents certainly aren't kings, so please change their mind so that I can go." Within a few minutes they called back and said I could go.

I didn't realize the basic principle I was standing on at that time. We are told to put God in rememberance of His Word and His Word never fails. I had faith that what God said could happen and I stood on that faith to see the result. That same foundational principle applies today. We are to have unwavering faith in what God said and expect to see it happen. It is really that simple.

The Desire Of My Heart

When I was growing up, my parents used to tease me, "Don't talk to Christy during commercials. Talk to her during the tv show." For some reason I've always enjoyed watching commercials.

By the time I finished college I dreamed of being in advertising and working in a high rise in Chicago. I had worked as an intern at a local marketing and advertising company my last year in college so I hired on there when I graduated as a Public Relations Manager. I learned a lot but I worked for a small company. The President's daughter was my boss and she decided to get engaged that same year. I basically did my work and hers while she planned her wedding each day. I was so burned out after a year that I finally quit. I decided to try to get into a large company where I could work my way up by proving myself.

I found a large company in our area that was hiring administrative support. I worked through a temp service in college and gained a lot of admin experience so I applied. The job I applied for sounded really interesting. I would be working for the Vice President of Product Development. During the interview I also learned that he knew my extended family so it seemed like a perfect fit. However, this company had just purchased a smaller company and they also needed to hire someone to help their four managers. This sounded like pure administrative work with no possibility for advancement and I really wasn't interested. However, that group got first choice and they picked me.

Although I couldn't see it at the time, that was definitely a God thing. I enjoyed the position and it gave me some great experience. I was promoted in 9 months and promoted again in another year or so. The job I really wanted turned out to be a bit of a dud that never really took off. I think they eventually dissolved the position.

I think it's neat how what appears to our human mind to be a bad choice is really the best for us in the long run. I'm so glad that God knows what is in my future and will direct down the right path.

Hearing The Voice Of God

I remember one night laying in bed talking to God about this guy I had been interested in. I was going through all of the reasons why I thought he was a good person and a good choice for me. All of a sudden I heard God say "But is it My way." It was as if I heard it audibly coming up through my heart. It was such an exciting moment and I was so blown away that God would talk to me so clearly.
